Understanding Structural Support for End-Fix Cassette Awnings
For premium cassette awnings such as the Weinor Cassita II, all operational load is concentrated onto fixing brackets positioned at either end of the awning.
Unlike multi-bracket systems that distribute weight evenly, an end-fix only system places significant extraction force onto the wall fixings during extension, retraction and daily operation.
Because of this, some installations may require spreader plate reinforcement brackets to safely distribute these forces across a larger fixing area.
What Is a Spreader Plate?
A spreader plate is a reinforced steel or aluminium support plate fitted behind or beneath the awning brackets. Its purpose is to spread the load over a wider structural area, reduce concentrated extraction force on individual fixings and improve long-term structural integrity.
When May They Be Necessary?
Spreader plates are commonly considered when the awning is particularly wide, large projections are specified, or structural calculations indicate high extraction forces.
