VDU COMPLIANCY

VDU COMPLIANCY
Traditionally, Vertical Blinds have been used in the UK for the last 40 years in office environments to either provide privacy whilst still allowing as much light as possible into the room, or indeed to block out as much light as possible. However, with the advent of modern computer technology and the introduction of VDU screens into virtually all office environments, there gradually became apparent an inherent problem with ambient light reflection from these screens, significantly affecting the operators ability to concentrate for long periods, and in some circumstances causing headaches and even potentially the onset of migraine. A range of fabrics was subsequently developed to counteract this problem, called VDU compliant fabric, which essentially have been tested to cut out adequate reflected light and keep glare away from the screen, but still to let a certain amount of light into the building without blacking it out. Over the years, these fabrics have reduced significantly in cost, and because of their anti-static properties, have now become the most popular choice of all blinds for the modern office environment.
2010 Comparative Price Guide - 1m x 2m Manual Blind - £59.00 (inc vat)

An example here of how to create the perfect working environment. These Vertical Blinds can be drawn back to the side of the room to allow the office to fill with natural daylight, then drawn and closed to eliminate glare and reflection from the VDU or laptop screen whilst in use. Shown here in Myotex Granite with a white backing.

VDU Compliant Vertical Blind Fabrics are available in a huge range of textures and colours in both 127mm and 89mm slat widths. Unlike the more standard fabric ranges better suited to the residential environment, because these fabrics have a solar protective backing, both light and dark colours are equally suited to this purpose.
