SCREEN FABRICS

SCREEN FABRICS
There is a strong move amongst architects and specifiers to offer these more technologically advanced types of blind fabrics into today's more modern working environments. The stable Nylon yarns that these fabrics are woven from can be carefully laid down during the manufacturing process to purposefully create a weave that is designed to inhibit a specific degree of light, whilst still allowing an accurate degree of light transmittence. The closer together the yarns are woven, the greater the degree of light exclusion, with a manufacturing process that is stable and consistent. It has been determined by scientists that a fabric with a 3% degree of light transmittency will meet the requirements of VDU Compliancy, in other words, restricting 97% of light from reflecting on to a VDU screen should be deemed as acceptable for normal, average daily use within the workplace. A huge range of Screen Fabrics are available, from a variety of distributors, with openness factors varying from between 1% and 10%, however, because of the working specifications, 3% factor is by far the most widely used for blinds in commercial applications. These Screen Fabrics are marketed throughout the UK under a variety of different names, for example, Lyverscreen, Sunworker, Technoscreen to name just a few, however, they all provide an equal and ideal solution to providing a very accurate degree of solar shading. Our preferred source of 3% Screen Fabric is to use the M-Screen range from the French company Mermet, simply because of the extensive range of colourways and technical support services that they have to offer.
