Very often, when you walk into a pub, one of the first things you might notice is a seemingly random arrangement of old architectural type artefacts adorning the walls, ceilings and shelves. For example, in a fishing port many pubs are decorated with fishing nets littered with floats, lobsterpots, life-rings and assorted shells and starfish. A larger pub may prove more imaginative and incorporate a central mast with spars, sails and a crows nest as a feature point. And in South Wales, for example, many pubs are adorned with mining memorabilia, such as helmets, lamps and old bird cages. This practice is known as Scenic Theming, the art of subtly and artistically creating a background theme that doesn't encroach on available space, but creates a welcoming and interesting atmosphere. Our skills at this art were learnt as part of our extensive travels and comprehensive fit-out works for a variety of theme parks throughout Europe. Because we have both the artistic flair as well as the knowledge as to how and where to source these various antiques and artefacts, we have significant experience at transforming, for example, a plain, dull bowling alley with a boring old suspended ceiling, into the appearance and impression of rolling old cannon balls down the timber deck of a magnificent Spanish galleon.
