PROTECTION BANNERS

The handrails that are fitted around staircases and atriums are designed generally as a safety feature and act as a retaining barrier, however in some instances these guard rails can create a potential hazard, particularly where small children are involved. Although giving the appearance of being safe, a false sense of security is created if it is possible for a small child to simply climb through the railings, creating the potential for serious accidents. In the example above we see a spiral walkway forming the queueing pathway to a waterslide within an indoor theme park, fitted as normal with standard guard rails. During a standard weekly health and safety review, the park took the sensible decision to retro-fit the handrails with protection banners, thus alleviating the potential threat before any accident could occur. These banners are fabricated from a high grade reinforced PVC fabric and fitted with stainless steel eyelets and lashed together carefully using a polyester cord. These materials are perfectly suited to environments containing a high element of chlorine gas, such as we see above, however we have carried out many other similar installations, both indoors and outdoors, using many other types of fabrics, such as football netting, or our ever popular Para acrylic awning fabric.
