There is a strong move amongst local town planners these days to move the High Street image back to the older traditional feel and have shops, particularly in conservation areas, incorporate the most versatile of all shop blinds , the tried and tested box-lot. Constructed from glued and screwed painted softwood with a felted top, the pullout timber front lath activates a metal barrel spring roller keeping constant tension to the fabric, thus allowing use of the blind in heavier weather conditions than the more normal options. The painted mild steel arms are designed to suit virtually any application and adjust to headway height to give a three point fixing anchor in conjunction with the safety chains, and afford a projection in some circumstances, depending on height of box fixing, of up to three metres. Maximum width in one span is seven metres. There is a vast choice of fabric colours in both supported PVC or acrylic cloths and a range of accessories such as removable side curtains, fixed or removable hanging front valances and traditional signwriting to customers logos. handpainted in suitable inks or gold leaf.
