ACCESS SOLUTIONS

Our technicians and installers are all trained in aspects of Working At Heights, we use recognised safety equipment and hi-viz PPE, and all personel carry CSCS cards along with their CRB number and photo ID. However, on occasion, certain access situations can be made somewhat challenging for us. As part of an installation of one of our Specialist Projects at a new-build local authority adventure pool we were contracted to install the pool depth marker signage by attaching it to the roof beams. We were informed by the site agent that we could use mobile towers within the pool area providing they were manoeuvred over rubber matting. What we were not informed was that the pool would be filled up with freezing cold water a week early for the purpose of testing the revolutionary new filtration system. Furthermore, to compliment the wave machine, the floor of the pool was highly contoured, requiring each corner of the tower to be adjusted for height at each location, securely and underwater. Undeterred, we dashed off to a local watersports store and purchased adequate wetsuits, and returned to complete the installation. It was imperative that the towers were properly levelled and braked as they provided a platform for further access equipment, making this potentially a dangerous height to fall from. Needless to say, all of us fell off the access equipment, on numerous occasions, however the works were completed on time and to the clients satisfaction, and no apprentice blind-fitters were harmed during the making of this movie!
